The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (FBAE) at Notre Dame University-Louaize Shouf Campus (NDU-SC) organized on Friday, October 27, 2017, a seminar on emotional intelligence titled, “Emotional Intelligence in Practice.” Guest speaker Dr. Chady Rahme, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Humanities (FH), NDU main campus, and certified personal trainer, presented an interactive and valuable one-hour lecture on this topic.
Dr. Rahme began by explaining simple emotional exercises. He stressed on the importance of naming our feelings to acknowledge them, because every emotional situation has a function. It is important to work on a balance between reasoning and emotion. He shed light on how to notice, understand, and manage emotions. His presentation also focused on four emotional intelligence clusters: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and social skills. He provided the audience with crucial tips to help in developing self-awareness and improving self-management as well as social awareness. He ended the lecture by screening an interesting video on the topic of emotional intelligence.
Faculty, staff, and students from different Faculties attended the seminar and gave positive feedback. Dr. Rahme’s presentation engaged the audience due to the highly interactive atmosphere it created. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Rahme expressed his gratitude for always being invited to and always being warmly welcomed at the SC. He was awarded a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ by SC Director Fr. Naji Khalil, as a token of appreciation for the brilliant lecture.
